Received this email today and had to share it with you. Thanks to Gabriel for sharing what God is doing in His life. Nothing "small" about the impact of this story. Can You See Him? He's busy in the middle of your life as well. Grabriel writes:
One of the many ways TheBOD.tv has changed me might seem pretty small and insignificant, yet it is one of the things that inspires me to act to make a difference. What is that little thing? Being informed. While reading through Cassi’s email to us I read about the Hannah House. What a great ministry. Then, while being a leader for DNow 09 I heard a group of young ladies present their story of helping at the Hannah House. I really was moved by their story, but in the story they said, “no men are allowed”, which actually makes a lot of sense, but disheartened me a bit because having worked in the inner city and having dealt with this type of crisis many times I understood how powerful an appropriate relationship with an upstanding man of God could be for a young woman and do a lot of good to help young ladies seek out who God had for them. I was lucky to work with many many upstanding men and we loved all our students like our own children. At any rate, I had let the initial moment of being moved to help Hannah House fade, since I understood their rules and accepted the great work they are doing there with their rules.
Then, a student at my university approached me. She wanted my help in raising money for Hannah House. Of course I immediately felt like it was a divine appointment. I told her I would do anything to help her raise money for Hannah House. She signs me up. It turns out that she took several professors names and pictures and put them on boxes. Students would put their money in the box of the professor who they most wanted to see in the dunk tank. The money goes directly to Hannah House. The professor who had the most money put in their box gets the privilege of being in the dunk tank at the Island Party on Tuesday April 21, 2009. It turns out that a lot of students would like to dunk me….lol. I know some people will look at this and say that it is all just a coincidence. For me though, I know it is not. I was moved with a desire to help, and each step of simply being informed (at various levels) prepared me to be ready and willing to help the Hannah House when I was called on to do so. So, from 7:30- 8:00, I am going to freeze my butt off in a dunk tank on campus, I am going to love every minute of it, because that is the contribution I can make for Hannah House. It is but a small deed, I know, but God is big to orchestrate a way for me to help.
