OK... Here's the list... not the all-inclusive-everything-that's-available-list because I'm sure a new one was added today... this is just my list.... FACEBOOK... new for me... I know, I know I'm five years behind... I'm not really an early buy-in guy most of the time. I'm the guy that said... why would you need a CD player when we have perfectly good cassette tapes??? I caught up then... I now have two iPODS.... why would anyone need TWO iPODS? Anyway... I digress back to the list. TWITTER, not a big fan, I really don't care if you just got a haircut and are about to pick up some milk on the way home... NING, wimpy application but it's what the LifeChurch Network uses to connect so I'm in. For some reason with every upgrade I lose my settings and haven't been getting notices of posts recently so I'm out of the loop. LinkedIn, kind of a professional business connection kind of thing that people feel the need to accept the invitation to join but never hear from it again unless they are looking for work. TOKBOX, cooool.... the first day but I don't have time to sit around and wait for someone else to pop up on the site because they nor I ever have it open only to have a really bad quality conversation via video. Not to mention the dog barking in the background, the kid crying, or the phone ringing to which you are obviously second choice. While I'm at it let's bust on the TEXT for a minute. Man if it takes more than two texts that include a question mark at the end... JUST CALL ME! I will answer or I will call you back... I PROMISE... I'd love to hear your voice. I'd love to know you aren't being held by gunpoint being forced to send an endless string of text messages in an effort to set a world record of some kind. Don't get me wrong. I love the simple one line text that states an important fact. I love turning a 5 minute conversation into a 5 second text.
I guess I'm just just thinking... I like 3-D people. The kind that care enough to touch you, hold you, shake your hand, look you in the eye, smell your bad breath, break bread with you, sweat with you, cry with you, laugh with you, imperfect DO LIFE WITH YOU kind of 3-D people. I do love connecting with some guys that live far away and would never hear from otherwise. It helps fill the empty gap they left behind when they left... I love hearing how others are impacting the world for Christ, traveling across the globe. I even love knowing that my wife is headed home with supper!!! But it will never take the place of taking her in my arms, feeling the warmth and softness of her caress and hearing her whisper... I LOVE YOU. I believe that is how we are all made. I believe we were built for connection and community. I love doing life with 3-D people. DON'T BLINK.
