seems to be the theme for me this week. Over Thanksgiving I spent some time "unplugged", needing an escape from the demands of being "on". Cell phones are a disease. Chris B. drove home the point on Sunday as well. If you missed it, you need to check out week 1 of Carbon Copy at Lifechurch.tv. I think our generation is going to be viewed as the generation that hurried their lives away. A time is coming when things will slow down because true purpose is lost in the hurriedness we call life these days. Breaking free is most difficult but I believe leads to intimacy with Christ and what he's calling us to. The precedent has already been set. Jesus routinely escaped to be alone with God, Moses spent 40 years in the desert with the goats, David in the Judean wilderness, Joseph in jail, John The Baptist in the desert eating bugs and honey... and then Saul (Paul) in Arabia for three years after the Damascus flash. Three years alone with likely a Bedouin group roaming the desert spending untold hours contemplating the things of Christ... silence before God being taught by the Holy Spirit as the Law which he knew so well came to life and the Truth... The Christ... for the first time was revealed and known. Likely thanks to that three years you, and I, have the Hope that is life in Christ. Few desire the life of solitude, quietness, and obscurity thus few enjoy the good life that is knowing the Redemption of Christ, the Power of the Holy Spirit and the Love of God. Are you ready for the good life? It begins alone with God. Enjoy the ride.... DON'T BLINK!
