OK, I've had so many posts with just words, I thought I should throw in a post for you "visual" people.  This is the reason I don't eat more fruit!  Or could it be that fat tastes better... New Year... time to shed a few pounds....

• It's time!  I am humbled and amazed at how "TheBOD'ers" have stepped up this week.  You guys are the best.  Your service is a sweet offering of worship to our Glorious God.  Thanks.
• The Bod Squad is going to be awesome!  Cool toys, cool leadership, cool kids.  I won't spoil the surprises but IT'S GONNA BE FREAKING AWESOME!
• Jeff Crawford posted a nice comment this week.  Good man chasing after God's heart and doing whatever he can to grow The Kingdom.
• We found a basket full of sweets on the porch this week, the night of the ladies Bible study.  Really cool anonymous note about sweet fellowship.  I love TheBOD.
• Rubbing up against un-churched people is exhilarating.  It is enabling me to view church through their eyes. 
• The "value" of being part of TheBOD is burning in my brain.  Words mean little.  Being is everything.  This value has nothing to do with satisfying consumerism but the true living value of Knowing The Creator of the Universe and giving Him his due glory.
• Being verses doing church is taking on new meaning for me.
• Our ladies Bible study moved from "feeding me" thinking to being "on mission" this week.  It's about to get messy.  Value.
• The chairs look awesome.
• The sign guys just called.  WE WILL HAVE A SIGN BY THIS AFTERNOON!!!!!
• Good book by Mark Batterson.  "IN A PIT WITH A LION ON A SNOWY DAY".  Be inspired.

 

Random thoughts for the day...

What a week...

• Anniversary ... #22... great date for some sushi at Peking Palace.  OK sushi, great waitress that told us about another sushi bar in Fayetteville... she got a nice tip.
• Loading CD's to my laptop.  Gonna need another Ipod to link to PC... I'm not a true MAC convert yet.  This is a lot of trouble going back and forth.  Just let me have my music!
• Attended the funeral of a 19 year-old boy today.  He was so young... I kept wanting him to sit up and say, "no wait, look I'm OK".  It didn't happen and it sucked.  I'm ticked at Satan.  He kills, he destroys, he lies, he hurts, he sucks.  I hurt today and felt sorrow that we (TheBOD) were too late to make a difference in this young man's life.  Not for long.  We will matter.  We will stand in the gap.
• I also feel sorrow that I, as an individual, didn't make a difference in this young man's life.  I didn't know him.  But I've grown to love and appreciate his father and step-mother.  I've prayed for them, even now.
• I try not to use the word "suck" but today it seemed appropriate.  sorry.
• We should have a new baby calf some time soon.  Momma seems to be getting restless. 
• I'm so ready for Sunday to get here.  I'm expecting to not have enough seats.  I'm expecting God to show up.  I'm expecting lives to be changed. 
• You're gonna like the new chairs.  They're not padded but they look awesome and are comfortable.  We got another check that should buy another 20 chairs.  Thanks to a great couple who will never be members of TheBOD but understand being on mission and are giving their lives, including their treasure, for His glory.  Pray blessings on them.
• I'm looking for fisherman.  It seems that Jesus was convinced that the fisherman were the crazy ones willing to leave everything behind and follow him with reckless abandon, so I too will be looking for those ready to leave everything behind and follow Him with reckless abandon.  The crowd will come, but the fisherman will be the ones who are used for life-change.  We already have a few fisherman on board... you know who you are... Don't Blink, we are on the verge of something remarkable.
• 12:30am... There was a time when this wasn't really that late, but I think it's time to shut down.  Just under 34 hours until we gather for our second service... I'm ready.  How about you?

Sweeeeeettttt!

The little Brown Truck just dropped my new Canon SD800 IS off!  This should take my blogging to a whole new level!  All about the visual.  Most of you know I'm kind of a camera freak anyway.  I've got a D30 and it's incredible but it's like carrying around a boat anchor for everyday stuff.  This thing is quick, has decent options/settings and should help with red-eye because of better ISO control.  At least those are some selling points.  I'll let you know how it works out.

Where have all the manners gone?

OK, I think I'm going a little too hard lately.  It seems that one of the things that really irks me recently, are those people who insist on pulling out in front of you.  It's just plain rude.  It would be like we are walking up to a door and instead of stopping and hold the door for me, you speed up your pace so you can beat me into the door.  Today it happened.... TWICE in a five minute window.  I've come up with a solution.  I think I will invent a button for your car.  I will signal some electronic gizmo that shoots an electron blast at the person's car which causes their car to shut down.  I'm thinking for 5 minutes should be fine.  Just long enough for the person to know they've been caught being an inconsiderate driver.  A little time-out if you will.  I shared my idea with Allison and she of course thinks I'm insane but may be on to something.  One concern I have is that if my gizmo ever makes it to market, she'd find herself in a time-out zone pretty quickly, she likes to dart and weave.....
